 PETITION

The late Bill Tarmey and his son Carl.
Bill left Coronation Street after 31 years to look after Carl when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

On-going until June 2013.

Bill Tarmey (aka Jack Duckworth from Coronation Street)'s son Carl was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2012. Bill left his Coronation Street role of 31 years to care for Carl, who has been told that he may have up to 5 years to live.

In June 2012 Bill started this e-petition, asking the government to discuss brain tumour funding in the House of Commons.

Ellie's Fund Brain Tumour Trust is very sad to learn that Bill passed away in November 2012. How wonderful it would be if the work that Bill began to make a change to brain tumour funding in the UK could become his legacy. We have until June 25th 2013 to get 100,000 signatures to make a difference to patients in the UK.

                                   ****************************************************************

Further to our recent Facebook updates we now have new collection notes for the empty baby wipe packet collection:

The latest information that we have is that this easy fundraiser is likely to finish at the end of 2013 (but the sponsors reserve the right to extend the date).

Here's what you need to do and how it works:

FROM MAY 1ST 2013 ALL PARCELS RECEIVED AT THE DEPOT MUST WEIGH OVER 4KG - BEFORE PACKAGING - AND UNDER 20KG, TO QUALIFY FOR FREEPOST (I would aim for 4.5kg - at least 500 packets - in case their scales weigh differently to yours. Don't remove plastic lids before you send the packets in - they weigh more!)

To allow time for the changeover to take place, from April 22nd 2013 we will ask you to confirm that your parcel weighs more than 4kg before we send out a freepost label.

Parcels that weigh less than 4kg may still be sent, but you will need to pay for the postage. If you are prepared to do so, please e-mail babywipes@elliesfund.com for more details and the address to send them to.
THIS IS NOT THE SAME ADDRESS AS ON THE FREEPOST LABELS.

1) Collect your empty baby wipe packets (any brand. Not toilet/face/antibac wipe packets though) and wrap them in a thick plastic bag or box. If you and your friends/nursery are collecting, please think about sending one parcel between you.

2) When you have a parcel ready to post e-mail babywipes@elliesfund.com. YOU MUST CONFIRM THE WEIGHT OF YOUR PARCEL AS BEING MORE THAN 4KG BEFORE PACKAGING & THEN WE WILL E-MAIL A FREEPOST LABEL.
Alternatively, ask for the address to post them to. (Not Freepost)

Add our e-mail address to your safe senders list to prevent the label going to your spam box. Drop the parcel at your local Post Office as soon as possible.

3) Each postage label can only be used once so if you need more just e-mail again

Collection points:

There are many people and places across the UK collecting baby wipe packets for us (some of them are also collecting food pouches but you will need to ask whether this is the case)

If you would like to make contact with someone close to you to start a larger collection, together, then you can find the collection points that we know about listed here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.514531181918088.1073741828.355549637816244&type=3 - just look for the photo with your area on it then look for a postcode close to you so that you can contact that person.

And here: https://www.facebook.com/elliesfundbabywipecollection/notes - there are two lists because people looking on mobile couldn't access the 'notes'.Feel free to add your own details if you are also collecting and are willing to take packets from other people.
The packets go directly to a recycling centre who credit Ellie's Fund BTT with the money. The packets are made into other items such as plastic bibs, dustbins and watering cans.

If you don't have your own printer perhaps you can ask a friend/neighbour/colleague/family to print a label out for you. The charity does not post labels out.

If you don't receive a reply to your e-mail within one week please check your junk folder as e-mails are answered daily unless we have another commitment.

Thank you for helping two great causes in one!

End To End For Ellie Land's End to John O'Groats, June 2013

We are three friends who In June 2013 plan to raise as much money as possible for Ellie’s Fund Brain Tumour Trust by cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats.

Our team,

Oliver Ritchie, age 20, at Northumbria University,
Robert Squire, age 21, at Northumbria University,
Jacob Rollinson, age 20, at Liverpool John Moores University,

are all from Scarborough and we are keen cyclists though none of us have ever tried something this challenging before.

Our route will take us from Lands End, to Okehampton, Bath,Ludlow, Haydock, Carlisle, Glasgow, Fort William, Kyle of Sutherland to John O’Groats – a total of 960 miles over 9 days! Not to mention the 2000 miles of training between march 1st and the start of the ride in June.

Mongolian Rally - begins July 13th 2013

Imagine this - driving from the UK to Ulan Bator (the capital of Mongolia) in a car your Grandma wouldn't be seen in, all in the name of charity!

That's what 23 year old Paul Baker and 27 year old Daniel Bayes are doing, beginning on July 13th at Goodwood, Chichester and finishing up to 6 weeks later!

Paul and Dan say:

The statistics:  10 000 miles. 2 continents. Multiple countries. 4 weeks. God knows how many breakdowns. No breakdown assistance, surprisingly the AA doesn't come out to the Gobi desert. No medical assistance. No help or guidance.

If reading this makes you (1) question our state of minds (2) makes you laugh at the sheer stupidity of the trip then please donate some pennies, even if its a couple of quid. It all counts and we will be forever grateful for your support!

James Aconley's Simply Musicals Tour, supporting Ellie's Fund Brain Tumour Trust

James Aconley and colleagues/friends.

Scarborough singer James Aconley’s 2013 tour, ‘Simply Musicals in Concert’ promises a wonderful evening celebrating the finest and best loved songs from the West End stage and the bright lights of Broadway.

Director, James Aconley said: ‘I’ve been producing shows since 2009, starting at Scarborough’s YMCA Theatre to packed houses, and with a standing ovation every night! Last year was a fantastic year with a season at Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre and also a new touring show, Simply Musicals in Concert. I
t was a great success and we really enjoyed visiting new areas and performing for new people. We’re back on tour now for 2013. It will be a very high quality and entertaining show. The tickets are already selling well – if you like musicals you should be there!’

The tour will also support Scarborough based charity Ellie’s Fund Brain Tumour Trust. ‘At each of the show dates we’re also going to be raising money for Ellie’s Fund Brain Tumour Trust, a charity based in Scarborough supporting children & young people across Yorkshire & Humberside who have a brain tumour & raising money for brain tumour research, as well as raising awareness’ said James.

The fantastic show-stopping songs from some of the greatest musical theatre songwriters are brought together with the stunning vocal talents of James Aconley, Rebekah Kelly, Olivia Burke and Nathan Jenkins.

The show will provide you with two hours of the great musical classics as well as a selection from some of the latest shows such as ‘Avenue Q’, and new musical revivals including 'A Chorus Line' and 'Singing in the Rain'.

During the evening you will hear songs from some of your favourite musicals such as ‘Cats', ‘Les Miserables’, ‘Phantom of the Opera’, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’, ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ and many more.

This show is on tour in and around North Yorkshire until September 2013.

We will also be selling a cast show album at the venue on the night.
